Summer Quaker exchange

Elisabeth was the recipient of my stitching for the Summer Quaker exchange and I knew immediately what I was going to stitched for her, its Quaker Swan by The Workbasket.
I've stitched it 1/1 on pilstitches hand dyed fabric in a soft perwinkle blue and I used the cream in Kaaluund hand-dyed silk threads to do it there is subtle shading on this cream which 1/1 doesn't really show well. I then couldn't decide how to finish it. So after some thought and fiddling about with pencil and paper drawing finishing ideas I opted out for a pinkeep as it was simple and I felt that I wanted a more simple finish, then I thought it looked really plain when I had done the pinkeep so I took the ribbon off I had put on and did the twiddly ribbon finish using 2 shades of voile ribbon, in amongst that ribbon are some cream headed pins.

Another pinkeep

I decided to make myself a mattress pinkeep, as I didn't join in the matress pinkeep exchange and this is the design I've done its a freebie by The Workbasket, its stitched 1/1 on 32ct evenweave I had fun doing this one and its another to add to my collection. I've copied sister Helen again for my style of photo, but I think I prefer my normal way of doing them on my blog, somehow they look odd on mine, maybe cos Helens blog is much more 'girly' than mine LOL!!

Talking of 'girly' anyone been watching Ch4 Big Brother this year? I'm addicted already have a long list of the ones I dislike and a shorter list of the ones I like LOL!!!!

This months 'Gift of Stitching' wow isn't it lovely, I can't wait to start on those pinkeeps, I will be as soon as I've finished stitching my SBEBB Summer Quaker Exchange which will hopefully be done by tomorrow.

Small finish

I needed a quick stitchy fix as I have been surfing blogs since I finished my part of the DT RR, so I stitched the Quaker Hedgehog which is a really delightful freebie by The Workbasket. Its stitched on beige 28ct linen and I used Dragonfloss by Polstitches in a limited edition colour called Moss Brown, I was really pleased with the way its turned out, I have finished it with a cord that I had in my scrapbag and I thought the colours went really well with it. It was a fun thing to stitch and only took a couple of hours to stitch and finish. I have made it into a pinkeeper. Posted by Picasa
