BIG Fish

Another finish for the Fobbles exhibition next month, this time its Big Fish by CHS, - though why its called that I haven't a clue cos really he is just a minnow fish, he's not even as long as my hand and I stitched him on 30ct linen, using the recommended DMC threads to make him a little bigger, I decided to make him into a little pincushion, its such a cutey and I've christened him Fred!!.

Thanks for all your nice comments about my last couple of finishes I do appreciate them and that you made the time to leave them for me, comments are so encouraging and definitley brighten up my day and it was so interesting to see which of the flip flops you all preferred I do believe that most of you liked the seahorse one the best.

I've made a start on the SB 2010 scissor fob and its coming up a treat, though I have changed the linen fabric - the linen that came with the kit was just toooooo dull for this pretty design and the scissors.

I thought I would leave you with a picture of my Oriental poppies that have just popped open today, there are many more to come, but these are the first 2 of this year.

CHS - Marriage Sampler

Yet another finish to be framed. This is by Carriage House Samplings and I have stitched it using DMC and its on 35ct Cream linen. This one I stitched over a couple of evenings after Mark and I parted, I found it very cathartic LOL!!

I have always liked this design, but I have re-named it from 'The Marriage Sampler' to 'The Breakup Sampler' As to me the verse is more of a timely reminder for the next time, not a verse for a wedding.

Fobbles 1st opening day for the Exhibition was great, around a hundred people visited throughout the day and all entry fees are going to Hospice at Home Charity, so ... if you are fancying a day in the Lake District, and fancy a wonderful exhibition then come and call in, you'll be very very welcome. Pictures will follow over the next few days!

For Becky

My private exchange with Dear Becky
has arrived at her door safe and sound today.

It was such an easy choice as to what to stitch for her, as we all know Becky loves bees, and I had this chart in my stash and knew that was what I wanted to do. I have stitched it on 40ct linen, using the recommended DMC colours, and I also finished it as a flat ornament, using quilt padding inside in layers. The reverse fabric is some wonderful hand dyed silk moire in the perfect gold/yellow colour which was given to me by my dear friend Angela, it was the perfect choice for the wee skep. The design is by Carriage House Samplings.

My other stitching is coming along well, I am now stitching my exchange piece with my mum, I have finished stitching all my others and just have the finishing to do. Usually I do my finishing at the weekends but this weekend is the Durham trip to my SIL's we are taking some friends with us for the first time and we are all really excited - lots of shopping to be done LOL! Sooo finishing will have to be done next week instead and I have a couple of new ideas swilling around in my head.

Ooo before I forget, our new neighbour is a rather charming young fella called Chris ( he's rather good looking too and very charming) he's about 25yrs and has a very nice girlfriend.
