Many many Thanks.....

....to all who have contacted me either by leaving a comment here or by private email, text and phone, I also appreciate the friendship and support you have shown here, I would have emailed you all personally, but I am finding this all so very upsetting, You never would think that something like this could happen where you live, this is such a 'sleepy hollow' area with very little crime. West Cumbria has been hit very hard over the past few months, what with the floods at Cockermouth  and Workington and the death of the 'hero' policeman and also the tragic coach crash 10 days ago when the children were killed - today was the funeral of one of those children, it all seems so pointless and a waste of so many lives, today I have really questioned my faith, and I am not a particularly religious person, but I am sure that there must be a greater plan somewhere to account for all the horror and that something good must come out of this in the end, we are all tested in strange ways and I hope that the survivors of this mayhem find comfort in their faiths and love  -  I truely appreciate your thoughts for all those in my home area, its been such a long and tragic day, more so for so many who have really been touched by this as it was members of their families. Cumbrians are very resilient people I have found in the 26 years I have lived here, and they have such a strong bond with each other, especially around here.

I also really feel for the gunmans family, they will probably be finding this all the hardest to bear, and I truely hope they have no repercussions of all this. I really do wonder what can make a person flip..... to do something that is so out of character from what his neighbours and colleagues have said..... we will never know now why!

Oh my, that is just terrible.....I don't know what makes people come unglued like that. It is such a waste and so tragic....isn't it? I pray for the families of all concerned, it is with heavy hearts that they must continue on, murder and suicide never make sense.
I hope that time will help heal the sadness.
Hugs,
Margaret B

Su, I saw this on the news today and can't believe it is right where you live!! What a shocking and terrifying thing to have happened to you and your whole community. To have your security and homes shaken like this is just unimaginable. My heart really goes out to all of the poor people and their families that were injured and killed; as well as, the poor policeman, and those dear people like you, Su, who are just trying to live life with home and family intact. I'm praying for you as you go through this very unnerving time. :[ Hugs, Deb

It was awful watching this unfold. And on top of all the other recent bad news stories coming out of Cumbria ...

My thoughts are with all the people affected.

I agree with you about the gunman's family. They will have to deal with the reprecussions of a situation they never would have condoned. Hopefully people will be understanding of this.

Dear Su,

My thoughts and prayers go out to your little community today and the gunman's family who will never really understand what made their son do such a terrible thing.

Su dear my friend,
I was going to e-mail you about this sadness... when I heard "Cumbria", I was very worried about you and quite shocked...
Now I have both feelings, relief and sad.
I'm so sorry that this happened in your town, that beautiful area.
I pray for everyone who died and their family, and also people in your town.

I will e-mail you sometime later.

((hugs))

I was just going through your blog and came across this. It's so sad and scary when a tragedy like this happens so close to home. We had the Nickel Mines shootings a few years ago-in Lancaster County, PA-they have made a tv movie about it. I hope everyone who lost someone over in your village is doing ok a little over a month later, but of course the pain will never completely fade away.
