..a little of this and a little of that...

As promised here is my progress on my latest stitching, as soon as I saw this chart I knew I had to have it, and as soon as it plopped onto the carpet through the letterbox I kneew I was going to start it - no exceptions for any other pieces I'm doing, this was the one!!

The design is by Martine Leonard and is called 'La Cage D'Eglantine' isn't it pretty so far.

Next up is a picture of the workshop I did at  Fobbles earlier this month...

We made needleboxes and it was great fun - Here are a few of the finishes taken from the top of them. THANKYOU Ladies for coming I really enjoyed teaching the class and I am looking forward very much to our next smalls workshop.

More on Fobbles later this post as it's some VERY VERY VERY Exciting news.

Next up is my stash acquisitions........

As you can see I have been treating myself, there is still some more to come, some MORE Blackbird Designs and some Homespun Elegance and some Shepherds Bush, I should be getting them early next week.

I bought 2 of  NatalieJo  beautiful designs and I am itching to start them too, her instructions for the finish are so lovely and clear and the charts are marvellous, I can't recommend them enough.

I also got myself the lovely Friendship Sweet Bag by Jeanette Douglas, its going to make the perfect gift for someone when I have stitched it.

Now talking of Jeanette Douglas, the very lady herself, will be teaching a workshop in Autumn 2010 at  Fobbles I do beleive there may be a couple of spare places left, so if you contact Bev or Edna at Fobbles they will be able to tell you.

ALSO

There is more..... Next May (2011)  Ellen Chester of With My Needle is coming to the UK and teaching at Fobbles as well  (again, contact Fobbles for all the details if you fancy coming, their address and phone number are on there) - See, I told you I had exciting news, not One but Two lovely designers coming up to my pretty part of Cumbria and I am going to both, I can't wait, I'm so excited, and I mean excited, if you knew me, you would know that I won't stop talking about it and get all giddy with it all LOL!

Thankyou for asking about my driving lessons, they are going well, slowly but steadily - I can now parallel park the car and my turns in the road (3 point turn) are excellent if I say so myself, I have finally mastered the art of not stalling at every junction (now just every other - No just kidding I haven't stalled for a while now LOL), and I am finally enjoying going around roundabouts, which if you knew where I live you cannot get anywhere in this county without going around at least 3 roundabouts to get anywhere.

Hope you all have a good weekend, its Mothering Sunday here in the UK tomorrow, so Happy Mothers Day to all you Mums and most especially Mine xx

Hi Su! What an interesting piece you're working on at the moment. It's going to come up a treat when it's finished.

Lovely needleboxes and good on you for a bit of stash enhancement! Great time of year to be adding some wonderful things.

So happy to hear your driving is going well too. Keep at it girl!

Ooh, those needleboxes are too cute.

Those needlebooks are SO pretty! I wish I'd been in the class. Well done on the driving - you'll probably never have to parallel park once you get your license unless you live in DC - my daughter does and she is super at it! I want to come to Fobbles (wail!)

I love your bird cage chart! The needleboxes are so pretty Su, and you must be an excellent instructor! It goes without saying that I love all of your new patterns and look forward to watching you stitch them. Such exciting news for you at Fobbles! I love your bird cage piece! And the needlebooks are lovely too! Nice stash - this market was a dangerous one, wasn't it? Glad to hear the driving is going well too. You're better than me -- I only drive automatic! lol!

I'm going to have to buy that Martine Leonard chart, it's gorgeous. I would like to come to Fobbles next year when Ellen is teaching, that is if the project is something I would like to stitch.

Your purchased some lovely stash. The needlebooks are so very pretty, but that new bird cage project has really caught my eye. I love the colors in the piece.
How exciting that you have two great workshops to look forward to. I've taken a workshop with Ellen Chester and she is fabulous... you won't be disappointed.

Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario have embraced round abouts in a very BIG way. One road has 5 of them! Count them 5 and the drivers, they mostly hate them. Enjoyed looking at your "caged" piece and all the lovelies that you have acquired. Maria S.

Congratulations on teaching a beautiful class - your students made some lovely needleboxes.

The bird cage is adorable. Very nice progress!

The upcoming Fobbles workshops sound very tempting; I've made it my goal to go to a stitching event once a year, so maybe a Fobbles event next year? This year, I'm hoping to go to the Shepherd's Bush retreat again (I went 4 years ago).

I love the needlebox! Very adorable. Is it possible for those of us that live in the USA that you could make a tutorial for purchase? I would love to make these for gifts (after making one for myself of course) but have no clue what is involved. Thank you for your wonderful blog. :)

Love all that stash...you got some great stuff and I'm quite glad to hear that your driving lessons are going well! Good for you!

Those needle boxes are totally delightful!!

So glad your driving is improving, parallel parking is difficult to learn! Our town has adopted the roundabout, even two lane ones, at many of our intersections. There are many complaints, but I'm not making any of them! I think they keep traffic moving quite nicely and have decreased the number of accidents at intersections. :)

I love the birdcage. It is so elegant. the Queen City Sampler Guild just hosted Jeanette Douglas for a class. You must take her class whatever it is! She is delightful and a great teacher and her items are beautiful. Ellen Chester is also a member of our guild and an excellent teacher also. I highly recommend her classes too - very detailed and beautiful too.

Great post Su!

I love your Martine Leonard birdcage; the needleboxes are very pretty - which one is yours? Great stash haul especially NatalieJo's designs - you are tempting me here - you know I'm on a 'stitch from stash' year and... then you go hit me with more temptation... classes at Fobbles! Bad girl!

Oh, how I love the choices you made when you purchased new stash. Wonderful charts and I will buy some of them, too. Why I really envy you is the fact that you live so near to Fobbles. I think I'd join all their workshops and stitching days and whatever they offer, lol. Everything sounds so wonderful.
